Gorgeous Greenies

What a busy morning!

I woke up this morning to a text message my sister sent me, asking me to bring her a packet that she forgot for her Chemistry class. I flew out of bed, bleary eyed from sleep and lack of contacts, threw on some workout clothes, grabbed the paper and made my way to the door. I thought I was making great time, until I opened the front door only to find my brother's truck behind my car. This definitely was a slight conundrum since his truck is massively burly and has a manual transmission. I do great working a stick shift, don't get me wrong, but I have a bad reputation in backing the truck up. For some reason I really like third gear. I popped into my little car and did the tightest, awesomest three point turn of my life. I got to my sister's school just before the bell was going to ring, proud of my flight from my bed, ninja driving skills, and all around best big sis skills. Until my sister told me that I brought the wrong form. Needless to say, we both had a troubling morning, more so on her side and for that I feel bad.

I glumly headed home where I took care of the puppies, cleaned the kitchen, grabbed a granola packet, and laced up my running shoes. I got new running shoes just a while ago; it was long over due! Rest in Peace poor little Adidas.

Bonjour sparkly new Asics! So far they have been wonderful to my feet and got me through a three mile run this morning. That run was such a great stress reliever and I got to see how much I have improved! Wooo!

After that run, I felt like I was on fire! I keep forgetting that it is summer time and that it does get hot outside, even before 8:30 am. I came home beet faced, but very happy. For making it through the morning chaos I decided to treat myself to a culinary adventure! My first Green Monster! *Enter ominous music here*

I was skeptical to say the least, I mean come on, spinach? In a smoothie?

Here is my little concoction, adapted from ohsheglows.com

Rachel's Gorgeous Greenie
2 cups spinach
1/2 cup greek yogurt
3/4 cup low-fat milk
1/2 frozen banana
3 Ice cubes (as a garnish, my blender doesn't like grinding ice hence the frozen banana!)

(Ooh lala! Gorgeous Greenie!)

The end result was nothing short of amazing!! I could not taste the spinach at all! Instead I had a super creamy (thank you greek yogurt), sweet (thank you banana), and cold (thank you ice) drink that hit the spot after a hot run.

I slurped this baby right down! Good to the last drop!

I am so excited to make more Gorgeous Greenies!!

Off to apply for more jobs :)

Have a lovely todayistheday!

  1. I'm still skeptical. :/ Spinach in a smoothie...blegh! *shiver* It just doesn't seem natural... O.o

  2. I don't think that you are alone in being skeptic! It definitely is a strange concept, but worth an adventure! :)
